Split a PDF by page ranges without re-scanning

How to turn one long PDF into smaller files using ranges, commas, and dashes—and how split differs from merge.

Archives, invoices, and bundles often arrive as a single PDF. Splitting keeps originals intact while producing lighter attachments for email or chat.

Range syntax that works

Use commas for separate pages or spans: 1,3-5,8 means page 1, pages 3 through 5, and page 8. Count from page 1 as printed; double-check scanned bundles where cover sheets shift numbering.

Split vs merge workflow

Merge combines several PDFs in upload order (see our merge guide). Split isolates chapters or annexes. If you only need a contiguous slice, one range is enough.

Try LovePDF split

Open the split PDF tool, upload once, enter ranges, and download the extracted PDF. For arbitrary non-contiguous picks, the extract pages flow uses the same range engine.
